Laryngospasm PhotosLaryngospasm is the sustained closure of the vocal cords resulting in the partial or complete loss of the patient’s airway. It is a primitive protective airway reflex that exists to protect against aspiration but can occur in light planes of anesthesia. Laryngospasm can rapidly result in hypoxemia and bradycardia. In order to re-establish oxygenation, a clear management plan is required to avoid significant morbidity and even mortality.
