Basic Steps of Intubation
- Properly position the patient
- Choose the correct laryngoscope blade
- Properly shape the ETT
- Properly hold the laryngoscope
- Properly insert the laryngoscope blade along the right side of the mouth
- Control the tongue
- Recognize landmarks
- Control the epiglottis to get the most optimal view of the glottis
- Apply external laryngeal pressure if need to get a better view
- Pass the ETT through the vocal cords
- Confirm correct placement
